The Magic Word

Stephen Gemmell

I know the Magic Word, a word that will help you find contentment and achieve your burning desire. Do you know it? The Magic Word will, if used effectively, help you to achieve your definite purpose or goal. It will help you to find the faith, belief and persistence to achieve you purpose. The path to contentment and peace, happiness and success is a direct result of your proper selection of the Magic Word. Have you got it yet?

Maybe these quotes will help:
Our environment, the world in which we live and work, is a mirror of our attitudes and expectations. [Earl Nightingale]
Mind is creative, and conditions, environment and all experiences in life are the result of our habitual or predominant mental attitude. [Charles Haanel]
That's right, the Magic Word is: Attitude.
You see your thoughts and your attitude depend on each other. One cannot exist without the other. Your attitude of mind depends on what you think and vice versa; you are what you think, you become your dominating thoughts and attitude. Let me explain.
If your dominating thoughts are of fear and anxiety then a negative, downcast attitude will persist. If, on the other hand, you consciously choose a positive mental attitude then your mind will be filled with thoughts of contentment, peace and success. Sounds simple? Well, actually it may take some practice and will depend on conscious choice or decision making.

You can consciously choose to wallow in self-pity and, guess what, self-pity consciousness will follow. It must. It fills your thoughts and that self-pitying attitude must also therefore be in attendance.

Of course, you can go one step further and blame your circumstances, but to quote George Bernard Shaw, 'People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them'.
So, take responsibility. Adopt a Positive Mental Attitude, persistently. That way, you can either find or make the circumstance that fits best with your goal. If you want to bring more success into your life, get the success consciousness; more health, get the health consciousness; more contentment, get the contentment consciousness. Fill your mind with these thoughts and live that attitude, because in the words of William James,'Human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives'.
And each time fear or doubt comes into your mind, replace it with your positive goal; let your mind be re-filled with dominating, positive thoughts and a positive mental attitude. You see, when things don't quite work out, people with this type of attitude just pick themselves up, dust themselves down and get going again. That's because their attitude helps them to be persistent, safe in the knowledge or belief that they are successful and that the right result will come along more often than not. Quite a long way from wallowing in self-pity!
Ah, so now you know. The Magic Word is: Attitude - and remember, the choice is yours.
